The season typically runs October through February. Individual coaches set the team’s schedule through

the selection of participation in Central Iowa leagues and tournaments. Occasionally teams will travel

outside of Central Iowa but rarely out of the state.

Assessments

All players must attend a grade-level assessment in the fall. Players are evaluated by volunteer assessors

in the areas of:

a) Basketball fundamentals – ball handling, defense, dribbling, passing, shooting, etc.

b) Athletic ability - speed, agility, jumping, foot speed, etc.

c) Mental – Hustle, attitude, aggressiveness, etc.

Costs

2026-2027 registration fee: $300

Uniform fee: $90 ($45 top, $45 bottom)

New uniforms are ordered every 3-4 years so players can wear the same uniform for

multiple seasons.

Stipends are provided to the coaches to cover registration fees for leagues and tournaments.

Typically there are no additional costs above the registration fee.

Practices

Each team will have two, one-hour practices a week at various gym locations around Grimes and Dallas

Center. We do our best to rotate practice times and locations, as well as work with other DCG clubs

whose seasons may overlap.

Grade level practices led by the DCG High School Girls Basketball coaching staff are held twice a month.

These give the girls an awesome opportunity to get to know and learn from our State Champion high

school coaches!
